Why You Should Book Your Wedding Entertainment Early
18 October 2017
It’s Wedding Wednesday and after a break last week, we are back with a wedding blog all about booking your entertainment as early as possible. Here’s why you should book your wedding entertainment early!
Prices Rise
We all know that trains go up in price in early January – usually just a few days into the New Year rather than on January 1st – and wedding entertainment acts are often the same (okay, they don’t up them a few days into January but a new year will bring new fees). With this in mind, it often pays to book your wedding entertainment for next year at this year’s prices! Considering the costs involved in a wedding, this is an absolute must.
Special Requests
This doesn’t really concern circus or magic acts but perhaps you’d like a special track to be learned by your wedding band. If this is the case, then booking early ensures that the group will be well prepared by the time your wedding day arrives. If your special song is something that most bands or quartets would know then there is obviously no need for this but if you as a couple just adore that rare Ed Sheeran b-side that he recorded before he was famous then it may be best to ask in advance.
Sound Limiter
Ah, the sound limiter! Old venues love them and bands fear them to the max! Simply put, a sound limiter is the decibel level that cannot be exceeded in a particular wedding venue. This may be because neighbours don’t want to be disturbed or perhaps the venue itself is susceptible to damage if is music is consistently played at a high level (think how paintings are kept out of direct sunlight). If your act knows about the sound limiter in advance, they can take steps to prepare for your wedding reception, but still making sure that you receive a top show!
Availability
It goes without saying that the more popular an act is, the more likely they are to be booked up before you’ve even had a chance to book them. That is unless you book them way in advance of your wedding – clever, eh? The most popular wedding bands are already taking bookings into 2019 and although we must admit that 2020 might be a bit too far out to plan for, there’s no harm in enquiring early to ensure that you get the entertainment that you’re after.
Logistics
This final point can go for all aspects of your day from the furniture hire to flowers to entertainment and even the food and bar. The sooner you have the entertainment sorted, the sooner you can plan the rest of your day. Where will the band be playing? What time will you be walking down the aisle? Etc., etc. Putting together the timetable of a wedding is extremely stressful; thankfully the sooner you get things sorted, the less stress you’ll experience in the lead up to the big day!
