Our Favourite Wedding Films - Part 1!
01 February 2019
The snow is still coming in fast and strong over much of the south west, which means this weekend is the perfect time for you and your partner to snuggle up under a blanket and watch some movies. And when youre in the midst of planning a wedding what better movies to watch than ones all about weddings and there are plenty of them to choose them. Over the next two weeks were going to reveal our top 10 wedding movies that we reccomend you watch in the lead up to your big day.
Whether you're looking for a comedy full of all the disasters you want to avoid on your big day or a good old fashioned romance, take a look at our first five favourite wedding movies!
The Wedding Planner
We're going to kick things off with my personal favourite film from the wedding film genre! Mary is an amazing wedding planner who has given up on love after catching her fiancé cheating. She focuses her attention on her career, becomes very successful, and everything is fine. That is until she accidently finds herself falling for a future groom of one of the weddings she is planning. Yikes!
This is a classic romantic comedy, with all the 'will they/wont they' twists and turns along the way. Watch for a little flower inspo and justification that not everything always goes as planned.
27 Dresses
'Always the bridesmaid and never the bride' is the driving force of this movie!
Jane is secretly in love with her boss and moonlights as a professional bridesmaid in the hope that her bride friends will someday return the favor. Things get sticky when her sister sets her sights on Jane's boss and tricks him into falling in love with her. As if poor she didn't already have enough on her plate in comes Kevin, a reporter trying to further his career by writing a piece on the infamous all-star bridesmaid.
This cute movie is your classic feel-good occasionally-cringe-worthy sweet romantic comedy with clever jokes and of course a great montage scene of all the ugliest bridesmaids dresses youve ever seen.
My Best Friends Wedding
Ever thought your best friend was the person you were meant to Marry?
Julianne is thrown for a loop when her best friend Michael asks to meet up after some time apart. Thinking Michael wants to meet so he can ask her to marry him based on an old college pact, she is shocked when her old friend introduces her to his new fiancé and crowns her the position of the maid of honor. Convinced that her friend is picking the wrong girl, Julianne agrees to be in the bridal party in hopes of finding ways to sabotage the wedding.
This movie will make you laugh and make you cry, all whilst be confused to who you should be routing for along the way! Plus some great inspo shots of a very beuatiful church wedding.
Bride Wars
BFFs forever—but only until both their weddings are booked on the same date at the same venue.
Since the time they were little girls, best friends Liv and Emma have been planning every aspect of their future weddings, including choosing the same destination: New York's famed Plaza Hotel. But when a clerical error causes a clash in wedding dates, Liv and Kate discover their inner demons -- with their lifelong friendship as a possible casualty.
This comedy focuses on the love story between two best friends, rather than the people actually getting married and will make you want to hug your best friend by the final scenes.
The Wedding Singer
A movie full of love songs and Adam Sandler...what more could you ask for!
Set in 1985, Adam Sandler plays a nice guy with a broken heart who's stuck in one of the most romantic jobs in the world, a wedding singer. Plegued by depression his wedding singing career goes down the tubes leaving his friends and coworkers very worried. After a huge melt down his soon-to-be-married coworker, Julia, asks him to help her plan her future nuptials in an attempt to lift his spirits. Eventually the two find out that they have a lot more in common than just where they work and the love story begins!
This flick is packed with hilarious love songs that will melt your heart and an awesome "put it all on the line" love scene on an airplane with Billy Idol! What's not to like?
