The Beauty of a Hotel Wedding
04 October 2017
When looking to pick a wedding venue, there are many reasons that couples pick their favoured location. It might hold sentimental value to either the bride or groom, perhaps it’s an easy setting for all guests to get to, or perhaps it’s simply a dream spot. If you’re undecided on where exactly to get married, we thought we’d write a blog to outline some of the reasons you might like to book a hotel wedding. We have taken meetings with many venues over the past year and as we are in the south west, naturally many have been with hotels! Without further ado then, here are the strengths of a hotel wedding.
Self-Contained
We’ve all seen episodes of Don’t Tell the Bride where the location is gorgeous; perhaps it’s on an island somewhere or in a particularly cool rustic building that perfectly complements the couple’s sensibilities. However we’ve also seen the difficulties which the bride has in getting to these locations and the tremendous effort for the groom’s 90 year old grandma in traversing that great hill to get to the ceremony at all. A hotel offers no such difficulties; the wedding vows are often in the grounds with the wedding breakfast and reception in a room close by. Perfect!
Wedding Planner
Let’s be honest, planning a wedding is stressful. Thankfully, most hotels have a dedicated wedding team and as such, a co-ordinator who ensures that your day goes perfectly. Why stress about the little things when a co-ordinator can handle everything instead? It can be both reassuring and practical to have a wedding planner onside and if you want everything to feel taken care of – allowing you to relax and enjoy the day – then a hotel wedding might be just what you’re after.
The Location
Oh come on now, is there any greater enjoyment to be had than looking out from the Devon or Cornwall coastline? We think not and that’s why we decided to set up shop in the south west! We provide entertainment all across the coast and think that hotels offer all of the beauty of a top location with none of the difficulties of working out how to get there! Guests can stay in a hotel at a discounted rate if it’s your wedding venue, whilst because of their remit – to have beds full – they are often perfectly situated for guests to attend. Brilliant! There’s nothing worse than worrying where you Auntie has got to on your big day!
No Sound Limiter
If you got married in a historic venue or an area where neighbours are close by, you might find that the celebrations have to be cut short or worse still, very quiet indeed! Curfews for some areas can even be as early as 10pm, so why not book a hotel wedding and dance the night away instead? Guests at a hotel often expect there to be something going on in one of the function rooms and truth be told, the walls and ceilings are probably thick enough that nobody else will be disturbed anyway. Perfect for your band or DJ of choice!
In-House Extras
Normally when booking a wedding venue, you have to think about a lot of other things. You have the room hired but you now need to think about production (lights, etc.), catering, the plates and cutlery, the flowers… It goes on and on! Thankfully a hotel will already have most of these things already – especially if they regularly hold entertainment in the evenings – so it’s a one stop shop for all your wedding needs! What more could a prospective bride and groom want?
As you can see, there are a number of reasons why a hotel in the south west might be perfect for your wedding.
