Nostalgic Entertainment Ideas for a Wedding
15 January 2020
When it comes to booking wedding entertainment, there’s a lot of pressure to go for the conventional, the expected acts, a wedding band or DJ for the reception. Booking these forms of entertainment are a great idea – we will obviously encourage it – but a wedding is often a time where those closest to the bride and groom reflect on proceedings and find themselves thinking of the past, when the adults were children with their whole lives ahead of them. Many couples like to offer an act or two that play into these simpler times so here are some nostalgic forms of entertainment that are sure to bring out a smile from many a guest on the day!
Edible Mist Orbs
Who didn’t love Roald Dahl as a child? David Walliams appears to have taken over the mantle from the great children’s author but for any of us who loved The Witches, Esio Trot and Matilda come the Edible Mist Orbs, which appear to come straight out of Willy Wonka’s workshop! Just added to the Trevor George Entertainment site and certainly inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, guests can indulge in edible mist that comes in a huge variety of different flavours. Was that snozzcumber? Perhaps! A perfect slice of entertainment to break the ice at a wedding.
Balloon Artists
There’s something so delightful about the art that can be created with balloons and for those of us big kids at weddings, a Balloon Artist is an absolute must! Able to craft anything from a dog through to a fabulously intricate multi-balloon piece of headwear, our balloon artists are sure to impress those aged from 8 through to 80! Whatever it is you’d like crafted in balloon form, just ask! And yes, balloon versions of the bride and groom are a near certainty to appear at some point.
Caricaturist
Hands up if you loved to draw as a child! We are sure that most of managed to draw a half decent cat or dog during our formative years and if you want to celebrate this artistic streak then we can think of no better way to do so than by booking a caricaturist for a wedding. Able to draw guests throughout the day in their own unique and comedic style, they provide a lovely keepsake that guests can take home with them or have available digitally. Marvellous!
Fun Casino
It may not seem like entertainment for children but there is just something about the spinning wheel of roulette that is guaranteed to enchant the young as well as the young at heart. For those brought up on the arcades and trying your luck, a Fun Casino might be just the think to help guests break the ice at your wedding. Not sure about betting? Giant Scalextric truly is another excellent piece of entertainment that is guaranteed to break the ice as well and if you have room, you could also book Giant Jenga or Giant Connect 4 to name just two!
Fortune Teller
Okay, this is more looking into the future than the past, but who wasn't fascinated with magic and intrigue as a child? (Note: There are of course many magicians available for a wedding!) Imagine if you could tell the future though! Well, lucky for us, a Fortune Teller does just that by analysing your true self and giving an uplifting and personal forecast. A lot of fun at parties and events, we have seen huge queues for this most unique of entertainment acts.
