5 Most Popular Wedding Band Options
25 October 2017
Who doesn’t love a good wedding band? We all do. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the union of two people very much in love and the best bit is that the music can help define the couple. Are they huge fans of 1950s culture or perhaps the biggest pop lovers you’re ever likely to meet? Regardless, here are the 5 most popular wedding band options in 2017!
Festival Bands
When you think of festivals, you probably think of a chilled out vibe, lots of colour and a party atmosphere. If so, then you’re in the right place! When we say ‘festival band’, we basically mean anything that would fit in an afternoon slot at a family festival like Glastonbury. It’ll be an energetic occasion with a lot of smiles – as there should be at a wedding! – and a lot of fun memories being made. Grab the camera, head to the dancefloor and ensure a night to remember! Top bands that fit the bill in this category include Sophisticated and Brother From Another.
Rock/Pop Bands
Perhaps the most popular of all wedding bands, rock and pop bands will deliver all the hits that everybody will know, so head to the dancefloor as soon as possible and ensure a rockin’ good time! From hits of yesteryear right through to the modern day, a good wedding rock or wedding pop band will know exactly how to move smoothly from the chart toppers to the smooth ballads. Acts that we recommend in this category include Catch 22, Missing Cat Trio and Charge.
Vintage Bands
Who doesn’t love a few vintage tunes at a wedding? A vintage band will primarily be slightly less outwardly energetic than a festival or rock/pop band but will still bring the hits! They might veer away from guitars and drums and incorporate other instruments including cellos and violins – and maybe even some sax – but rest assured, the sound will be just as good! Playing all the hits from the past, you’ll be able to slow dance to Sinatra and dance to Dexy’s. All in all, great fun! Examples of this type of band include Modern Vintage, Gatsby’s Jukebox and Apple Tree Theory.
Soul/Motown Bands
Let’s be honest here – everyone enjoys a little bit of soul and Motown. Many of those getting married today won’t have been around in the 1970s heyday (and if they were, they almost certainly weren’t old enough to hit the disco halls or clubs), so what better way to celebrate your wedding than by bringing this incredible form of music to the fore once more! With great vocals and often a big band to accompany it, you’ll be in Heaven. Bands that we can provide for your wedding include The Swing Empire and Grace Notes Gospel.
Jazz Bands
There's just something about jazz which really works at a wedding and though many will have a few choice arrangements as they walk down the aisle (jazz is a superb choice for background music at your wedding ceremony), jazz also works on its own as the primary entertainment in the evening. Cole Porter, George Gershwin-- you name it and our bands will be able to play it. If it's the sound of the trumpet or sax that gets you going then these are the bands for you! Choices for your wedding include well established bands such as the Gershwin Gang and Bootleg Swing.
