Entertainment fit for a Duke and Duchess
06 December 2017
If you’re anything like us then we can imagine that you reacted to news of another Royal wedding with maximum levels of excitement. Presumably the ceremony between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be on the scale of when Prince William married Kate Middleton – Harry is only fifth in line to the throne these days – but one can hope that it’ll still be a rather large affair, especially considering that the couple have booked St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Now that the venue is booked, they'll no doubt be turning their thoughts to the entertainment required at a Royal wedding... Harry and Meghan, if you’re reading this, we are here to help.
Military Marching Band
With Prince Harry having served in the military, a Military Marching Band is surely a no brainer. With this being a Royal wedding, we expect the full complement of members, roughly double what you can see in the photo above. Coming from all across the UK for this gorgeous event, we feel that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be most pleased.
Melegari String Quartet
Now we are talking! In all probability, a full blown orchestra is the most likely sort of music to pop up at a Royal wedding (alongside Elton John of course), but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – we should really just refer to them as ‘Harry and Meghan’ shouldn’t we? – rather seem to enjoy a simpler life out of the public eye, so a smaller group might be just perfect for them. With this in mind, we think the Melegari String Quartet fit the bill. Comprised of four of the south west's top musicians, this string ensemble can play anything from pop music to virtuoso classical compositions and even have a history playing for the Dutch Philharmonic. Crikey! A perfect wedding choice. Alternatively, there is always the London Symphony Orchestra.
Grace Notes Gospel
If there’s an occasion that deserves a choir then we think a wedding certainly fits the bill! Grace Notes Gospel are a fab contemporary choir that don’t simply sing hymns from centuries gone by (though they certainly can if required so don't be too upset!), but are also able to perform Motown tunes and other eclectic songs! If any group is a must for the Royal wedding then Grace Notes Gospel is that group. We can practically hear them in Windsor now...
Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine
This is a curious one but it just had to be included due to the story alone. When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were planning their wedding for April 2011, a rumour began to circulate that suggested artists like the aforementioned Elton or Beyoncé would perform . Amidst the swirl of rumours, comedy band Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine found their name being bandied about as well. By no means a bad group, the band have recently recorded tracks for The Lego Batman Movie, they would nonetheless have been a far out choice. Did they end up perform at the Royal wedding reception? It’s somewhat hard to find out. If not, they might be a great choice for Harry and Meghan.
Clare's Circus
Don't just book music for a wedding! When thinking about the wedding of Harry and Meghan, it makes sense to consider the second and third heirs to the throne as well. Prince George and Princess Charlotte will undoubtedly be a little bored after what is no doubt going to be a long day, so why not give them some fun balloons to play with? Clare's Circus are a superb group of entertainers who can teach various circus tricks and routines to the little ones and we can imagine that the young heirs will be very enamoured by the idea.
