Arranging a Wedding at the Beach
01 February 2017
We get a number of queries every year from prospective brides and grooms who say that the beach in Cornwall, Devon or Dorset is special to them and that ideally they’d love to get married with the sand between their feet. Unfortunately, this isn’t a possibility due to UK laws, but there is a way round it.
We specialise in providing entertainment for your wedding and although we don’t book venues ,we know a lot about them. As such, a number of couples often reach out to us early on in their planning to ask how entertainment might work on a beach as they’ll be planning to get married just a stone’s throw from the waves and perhaps even bare foot! It is heart-breaking for us to then have to pass on that UK law prohibits getting married at the seaside; ordinarily weddings take place in a permanent structure a fair walk from the coast. You can’t even get around this law by hiring a marquee – you can’t get married in any venue that doesn’t have a solid, stable roof!
But do not despair!
You see, if the beach is your thing (and why wouldn’t it be), then a wedding venue in Bournemouth is actually situated on the sand and is the only venue in England and Wales actually situated on the beach. You get married in a small beach hut and then head over to a marquee right next to your wedding venue for the rest of your day. Able to hold up to 400 people, this is a beautiful wedding venue and one that many will remember. The views are enviable!
Available from April to October, the perfectly named Beach Weddings Bournemouth is an absolute must for those of you who want to get married in the south west and as close to the sea as possible. As for the entertainment, well we recommend a top quality band or quartet to go with the gorgeous surroundings.
One thing we should force to you to consider though is that Bournemouth has a tendency to be quite hot during the summer. No problem though! If it all gets too hot, you can simply run into the sea to cool off.
